Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Skiba Vision Center the leading provider of vision care products and services in Alpena.

Dr. Gerald A. Skiba II, O.D.

Alpena High School graduate, with honors

Doctorate Michigan College of Optometry (FSU) 1985 with honors

Dr. Skiba has practiced full scope optometry, specializing in ocular disease detection, diagnosis and treatment, since 1985. He enjoys working with all age groups, ranging from children to the elderly. Dr. Skiba takes pride in fitting various types of contact lenses, including soft and rigid gas permeable, disposable, including daily and extended wear, as well as toric and multi-focal. He co-manages cataract and lasik surgical cases and is available for emergency eye care situations.

Professional associations include the Michigan and American Optometric Associations.

He is married to Beth, and has two children, Tyler and Maggie. Born and raised in Alpena, Dr. Skiba truly enjoys living and practicing in Northern Michigan. He is an avid hunter and golfer, enjoys boating, skiing and playing hockey.

Dr. Tyler Skiba’s full scope optometric education has prepared him to detect, diagnose and treat/manage a multitude of ocular diseases and vision disorders.

He enjoys practicing full scope primary care optometry, including seeing patients of all ages. He has advanced training in ocular disease management, surgery co-management and specialty contact lens fits.

He is thrilled to return to his hometown of Alpena to practice, live and be a part of the community. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, hockey, skiing, hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities.

Our Staff

The staff at Skiba Vision Center takes great pride in their customer service. We have collective experience of over 120 years. Our friendly, professional staff is here to assist you in your eyeglass selection.

Our product knowledge is second to none. We can do most any adjustment or repair with ease. And for those of you traveling a long distance, in a hurry or just without glasses, we have an on site lab that can fabricate most prescription glasses in about an hour.

We have hundreds of frames, in a wide range of price points, styles and designers. Our staff is trained to help you in your selection of glasses to best suit your lifestyle needs.

Our technicians are patient with instructing new contact lens wearers to insure a successful contact lens experience.
